TEAM UQ digs deep in Perth
Congratulations to TEAM UQ for a great result at the Australian University Games in Perth during the mid-semester break. The smallest UQ team in six years performed admirably to finish 16th out of 42 competing universities.
Standout teams included Women’s Netball, Men’s Badminton and Lawn Bowls, who all took out bronze medals. Congratulations also to the UQ swimmers who finished up with nine gold, three silver and five bronze medals, and also broke four relay records. Also of note was the small but talented athletics team who managed six gold medals from six events.
TEAM UQ’s overall placing of 16th was on par with their 2008 result (15th), despite having 50 fewer athletes competing. Well done TEAM UQ and thank you to everyone who helped out in Perth.
